About us

Founded in 2010 by Emma J Lomman and her alter ego Siasan, The Daily ALIEN is the official news and information service for the Siasan network. Our aim is to inform readers of the latest news and events happening around Siasan. We will also publish tutorials, design commentary and random hints & tips.

Through our close links with Siasan, we are also able to bring you previews of layouts and designs. Readers are invited to provide comments and critique on these designs – your feedback may be incorporated into design revisions!

About our name

Wondering about our title? Well, to cut a long story short, Emma committed herself to draw 200 amusing little alien cartons before the end of the 2010 academic year. This was partly a creativity exercise and mostly a way to spend a little while each day doing something fun. At last estimate (April 2010), the number of aliens required per week was just over 6, which is close to 1 alien per day – thus, “The Daily ALIEN”.

Staff

Siasan – chief reporter

For those who were curious, the origins of the name “Siasan” will forever remain secret. We are, however, able to reveal that the correct pronunciation is “sia” as in “siamese” and “san” as in “sand”.

Siasan’s alter ego is Emma Lomman, a web designer/web developer who finds writing about herself in third person strange but oddly entertaining. She is currently undertaking an Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media at Tasmanian Polytechnic, creating an online gallery to promote and sell digital art, web templates and CMS themes. Outside of classes she breeds dairy goats, writes science fiction and fantasy and tinkers with computers. She also maintains the official website of the Dairy Goat Society of Australia.

Although her name is identical to that of the Siasan group, Siasan reserves the right to be an impartial observer.
