The “200 Aliens” project

Share

‘200 aliens’ is a project to draw 200 aliens between March 1st, 2010 and October 30th 2010. I could call it as a creativity exercise or drawing practice or any one of a dozen ‘serious’ explanations, but the truth is that I think they’re cute and funny and I like drawing them.

Alien anatomy

Aliens have large, jellyfish-like bodies with no neck and a round head. They have large bulbous eyes set at the very top of their head. They also have curly antennae, wide mouths and rectangular noses. Their arms and legs are very thin and they have three thin fingers on each hand. Their skin colour is normally pale aqua.

Please ignore whether or not they have opposable thumbs…

Alien fashion

Aliens rarely wear clothes at all, but on the occasions they do it is to mock an earth stereotype. Due to anatomical differences between humans and aliens, the aliens avoid anything resembling human pants unless it’s absolutely necessary for their outfit.

Gender differentiation

Aliens technically don’t have separate genders, so most of the time they ignore this aspect of human life. When they want to look like a human female they use false eyelashes, make-up and thick lipstick. They also wear dresses or skirts.

Young aliens

Young aliens are thinner than adults, with smaller bodies in relation to their heads. They also have shorter antennae and relatively larger eyes. Their skin colour is slightly greener than that of a mature alien. Aliens mature at about the same rate as humans.

To see some of the different types of aliens explore the ‘aliens’ category in the sidebar or use the search function.
